The last sovereign king of the Zulu Kingdom; an unknown soldier; a female British missionary; an ambitious colonial official; a young Welshman: AMASHINGA is an epic contemplation of the shared history of the British Empire and the Zulu Kingdom, surrounding the war of 1879. Told through the documented words of those who influenced unfolding events and the visceral experiences of those whose words have been lost.
Feature length narrative documentary.
Currently in post production, Bex’s first feature documentary, The Island, was filmed over a period of seven years in Sierra Leone, West Africa. It centres around the life of a community on a remote island that is disappearing, and asks us to consider what defines that elusive thing that we call home.
